The peptide world has exploded over the last few years. Along with all the legitimate innovation and research, there’s also been a wave of confusing, inconsistent, and sometimes sketchy options for actually getting your hands on peptides. If you’ve ever stared at a peptide website and thought, “Is this real?” you’re not alone.

1. The Reality of the Gray Market
Let’s be honest: a huge portion of people using peptides today are buying from the gray market. These are companies that sell “research-only” compounds, often with disclaimers like “not for human use,” while very clearly marketing to the wellness and longevity crowd.

But there’s another side you don’t always see in public posts: people who get bunk products, under-dosed peptides, mislabeled vials, contaminated solutions, or orders that never arrive. - Do you provide lot numbers on the vials that match the COAs? This helps you confirm that what’s in your hand is actually what was tested.
- What is your return or replacement policy? If something shows up broken, warm, mislabeled, or clearly off, can you get it replaced? How do they handle customer complaints?
- How long have you been in business? New doesn’t automatically mean bad, but a company that’s been around for years, with a consistent name and history, is less likely to vanish overnight.
- Can I speak to a real person? Email-only support with slow, vague replies is a red flag. Serious vendors usually have reasonably responsive support and clear, straightforward answers.
You don’t need to conduct an interrogation, but even a short email exchange can tell you a lot. Are they transparent, specific, and willing to share documentation? Or do they dodge questions, send boilerplate replies, or get defensive?
